Snoring, ineffective sleep, and sleep apnea

During sleep nose, mouth, throat, and voice box irregularities can cause blockage in your upper airway. This can result in snoring, inefficient sleep, or sleep apnea.

Failure to address these symptoms can have serious consequences as seen below:

Warning signs that you may have a sleep disorder:

  • Snoring
  • Daytime fatigue
  • Gasping during sleep
  • Restless sleep
  • Morning headaches
  • Frequent awakening from sleep

You may notice some of these signs yourself or your bedroom partner may bring them to your attention. In either case they require professional evaluation.

A sleep disorder evaluation starts with a detailed medical history and complete head and neck examination. Based upon the results, a formal sleep study may be ordered. The study is a painless, overnight test usually performed at home that monitors some of your bodily functions. It allows me to make a specific diagnosis and determine the best treatment plan for your needs.
